Excellent performance by Bhim and Kushal,Nepal comfortable win over Malaysia

Nepal has made a winning start in the ACC Premier Cup one-day cricket tournament. Nepal defeated Malaysia by 6 wickets in the opening match at TU Cricket Ground Kirtipur today. Nepal completed the target of 236 runs given by Malaysia by losing 4 wickets in 36.2 overs.

Bhim Sharki and Kushal Malla were the heroes in Nepal's victory. Kushal Bhurtel and Ashif Shaikh opened against Malaysia. But the opening pair could not settle. Ashif Sheikh returned to the pavilion when Nepal scored 5 runs. He was dismissed after scoring 1 run. Bhim Sharki came to the crease to support Kushal.


Nepal scored 53 runs in 9.1 overs. At that time another opener Kushal Bhurtel also returned to the pavilion. Bhurtel played 38 runs off 31 balls. He hit 1 six and 3 fours. Rohit Poudel came to support Bhim Sharki. Together these two players scored 119 runs for Nepal. In the meantime, captain Poudel returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs in 43 balls. He hit 5 fours.

Then Bhim and Kushal Malla together won Nepal. A century-plus partnership between these two ensured victory. Needing 5 runs for victory, Bhim Sharki was caught out while trying to hit a six. He was dismissed after scoring 71 runs. He hit 5 fours while facing 98 balls.

Kushal Mall remained not out on 70 runs. He hit 5 fours and 5 sixes in 40 balls. Similarly, Dipendra singh Airee hit a winning boundary while playing 5 runs not out.


Malaysia's Mohammad Wafiq, Vijay Yuni, Rizwan Haider and Virendeep Singh took one wicket each.

After winning the toss, the visiting team Malaysia batted first and scored 235 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated over.

For Nepal, Sompal Kami took the most 3 wickets while Lalit Rajvanshi took 2 wickets. Gulsan Jha and Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket each.

Mohammad Amir and Birandeep Singh from Malaysia opened the event. Malaysia lost their first wicket when they scored 22 runs in 5.5 overs. Amir of Malaysia was dismissed after scoring 17 runs. He hit 3 fours in 18 balls. Amri was caught out by Gulsan Jha from Dipendra Singh Airee.

Then Virandeep and captain Faiz advanced across Malaysia. These two shared 116 runs and advanced across Malaysia. Meanwhile, Captain Faiz completed his half century. When the team scored 138 runs in 33.2 overs, Faiz got out after scoring 76 runs. He was dismissed by Sandeep Lamichhane.

Sandeep took a catch from the wicketkeeper Ashif Sheikh and gave Nepal a big success. Similarly, Virendeep was out scoring 46 runs. He was dismissed by Lalit Rajbanshi. When he got out, Malaysia scored 155 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 37.1 overs. Similarly, Vijay Uni scored 12 runs while Syed Aziz scored 13 runs. Malaysia scored 209 runs when Khaizer Hayat scored 22 runs off 25 balls.


Similarly Sejrul Idris was dismissed after scoring 21 runs in 13 balls. He was dismissed by Sandeep. Mohammad Syed was dismissed in the last ball as the ninth wicket. When he was dismissed after scoring 15 runs, the wicket remained in the name of Sandeep.

Nepal's Sompal Kami took 3 wickets for 40 runs while bowling 9 overs. Similarly, Gulsan Jha took 1 wicket for 33 runs while keeping 1 over maiden in 5 overs. Similarly, Lalit Rajbanshi took 2 wickets by conceding 34 runs in 10 overs.

Sandeep Lamchiane took 3 wickets at the cost of 48 runs keeping 1 over maiden in 10 overs. Arif Sheikh spent 23 runs in 4 overs, Kushal Malla gave 25 runs in 6 overs and Dipendra Singh gave 24 runs in 6 overs.
